The word Pozole has a pre-Hispanic origin in the náhuatl word, Pozolli, which means “foam”; effect achieved by boiling the maize grains, which had a meaning within the Aztecs worldview. Associated with northern characters such as Iztacmizcóatl, the White Snake in the clouds, that symbolizes the Milky Way and outstands in the background of a night sky.
